Persol, tribute to Steve McQueen
The Venice Film Festival and a tribute to iconic sunglasses
From 27 August to 6 September, the International Film Festival returns, the film festival that has been held annually in Venice since 1932. Since its inception, cinema has been closely linked to the world of fashion and accessories. Eyewear has contributed to creating iconic characters and defining their personalities in a fundamental way. Cinema and eyewear are therefore a perfect match, united by a strong aesthetic sense, which has not escaped the historic Italian brand Persol, which today is reintroducing an iconic model of foldable sunglasses worn by Steve McQueen in the 1968 film “The Thomas Crown Affair”.
Since then, Persol's 714 model has become a symbol of a rebellious yet refined personality, and can still be worn today thanks to faithful replicas that Persol has released in limited editions. These sunglasses are for true collectors, entirely handcrafted in all their components, and are available in various historic combinations of frame colours and lens shades. At Ottica Urbani, we immediately believed in this Persol project and offer our customers the entire range of combinations.
